The prevailing atmosphere of a good portion of the nineteenth century theatre in Europe was the light of Romanticism. Extravagance was the watchword. Extravagant entertainment, extravagantly contrived plots and characters, extravagant displays in acting and personality traits took the new audiences to a never-never land of make believe. Plays ostensibly founded on historical fact bent those facts to a thesis or a point of view; plays ostensibly rooted in contemporary life generally carried both situation and character to the extremes of virtue and vice. During the Republics first century, American law held that all white people had equal rights to the benefits of American civilization. Some distinctions were made between citizens and non-citizens: only citizens had the right to vote, and only a native-born citizen could become president, for example. For white people, however, legal access to American citizenship was virtually unrestricted. Potential immigrants might not be able to afford the passage to the United States, but once they were here, the law (if not necessarily the residents) welcomed them; naturalization was theirs for the asking. The law did not intrude on people’s rights to travel, to change their residence or to decide their own destiny. An important consequence was that whites who arrived on American territory were automatically subject to the protection of the American Constitution and laws. (more…)

Introduction

It was believed that a low level of intelligence was very common among offenders and that it was one of main factors in causation of crime. Such belief has been discarded almost entirely today, as psychological tests have been improved. The testing itself has been standardized and performed more carefully. Our perspectives have changed radically regarding the connection between intelligence and delinquency. Until 1930, most of the studies appeared to confirm that delinquents were either defective in intelligence or borderline cases. Today, however, a considerable number of researches indicate that delinquents do not differ radically in intellectual capacity from non-delinquents, both coming from the same social and economic environments.

Throughout history, volcanoes fascinated human imagination. The very term volcano comes from the Roman word “Vulcan”, the Roman for god of fire. according to Roman mythology, Vulcan was a blacksmith and made tools and weapons for the other gods of Olympus. The volcanoes were considered to be the chimneys of his forge. Today, though we still be fascinated by volcanoes, we know much more about them. So, what do we know about volcanoes?

The First Amendment to the US Constitution is an essential part of the Bill of Rights. In accordance to it the society can be called free and democratic. The main statements of the First Amendment is that the Congress should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Cloning has been part of human reproduction from the very beginning. In this case, Nature is a habitual and a serial cloner. There is a debate concerning personal identity and person’s development which is influenced by cloning and the donor’s genetic code. In today’s digital economy, use of electronic technologies is becoming a way of life. Users transact, communicate, collaborate and share information online for business and personal reasons. Many times these online activities leave a trace of unprotected behavioral or personal information visible to predatory eyes in cyberspace. Businesses, however, may take advantage of modern technology to collect, store, and “mine” user data. Bridging pieces of seemingly unidentifiable data islands could connect information with specific individual users. With the collected online/offline user data, further profiling and preference-matching become possible for businesses to advance their opportunities. Because of this conflict of interests that may likely arise between consumers and businesses on online consumer protection, more research is needed to clarify the issues, develop and test research theories, and validate existing research models.

The park is a relatively flat region, with small lines of hills reaching about 200m, separated by wide floodplains which become inundated during the rains. The whole area has superficial formations of laterite and sediments over Cambrian sandstone beds, which outcrop in places, and some metamorphic rock. The park is crossed by the River Gambia and its two tributaries, the Niokolo Koba and the Koulountou.

Writing about prominent people I chose to write about Albert Einstein. Why Einstein? Of course, there are many outstanding scientists and people who influenced the progress of the mankind. But none of them forever changed the course of the science. Albert Einstein personifies the well known slogans: “Think the unthinkable” and “Impossible is nothing”. Albert Einstein forecast many of the future inventions. He became an example of smartness. He has been recognized a genius. His ideas changed the world and the approach to the science. This is a creative and natural approach. Al Einstein wanted to learn the most sacred secret of the world. He wanted to know how the world works.
